THE DARK I KNOW is an original musical set in Germany during the early 1930's, that tells the story of two German families, one Jewish, set against the backdrop of the rise of Nazism. Hannah is a journalist, recently divorced from her husband, Max, a pro Nazi, military officer. Still reeling from the loss of her young son, Lertz, she and her adopted son, Lukas leave Berlin, and move to Frankfurt to start anew. There, she meets Aaron Freeman, and his family. As they begin to establish a relationship, they discover their lives have been intertwined by the past. The Dark I Know is the recipient of the 2013 National KCACTF Musical Theater Award and was also honored with the MITF Producers Award in the summer of 2013. The Dark I Know was written by John Watts and Alex Eisen. John and Alex and further developing this piece in anticipation of a Summer 2019 New York City workshop. |
